MCDVR Systems and Solutions

Multi-Channel Digital Voice Recorder (MCDVR) or MCVR equipment would be designed and installed to assist in the investigation of incidents. MCVR is a system that separately records multiple simultaneous audio channels on the same storage medium, by using appropriate hardware /drivers and recording software.

Digital audio refers to the technology that records, stores, and reproduces sound by encoding an audio signal in digital format. Digital audio systems include compression, storage, processing and transmission components. Digital format allows convenient manipulation, storage, transmission and retrieval of an audio signal based on specific search criteria.

MDVR’s are used for continuous monitoring and capture of voice traffic on fixed lines and air interfaces.

The recorded information is used for the analysis and investigation of incidents.

All voice recordings are activated automatically immediately an audio signal is recognised. MCDVR equipment shall record digital audio on separate and segregated recording channels.

In enterprise telecom system several MCDVR systems record the audio conversations from other telecom systems such as following:
- Telephony System (PABX)
- PMR VHF and/or UHF Radio System
- Public Address General Alarm System (PAGA)
- Intercom System
- Hotline Telephone System

The system/network of MCDVR units automatically, directly capture, record, and archive all defined and active voice/audio streams in digital format 24 hours a day. Active voice/audio signals shall be digitised, compressed and recorded on a hard disk. All voice/audio recordings shall be captured in their entirety in full duplex so that both sides of any conversation are recorded on the same channel. Information including start date, start time, duration, type of recording (i.e. telephone/hotline/intercom/UHF TETRA Radio or PAGA), including telephone numbers of participants of conversation, direction of connection, will all be stored/recorded/archived.

The MCDVRs are then interconnected to each other and to a Network Management System (NMS) via IP LAN/WAN network
